Our work Extra care for children who need it Royal Surrey County Hospital cares for thousands of children and young people every year. High dependency unit Our care teams who work in children's services are incredible, as one parent describes: “My daughter was admitted by ambulance last Thursday suffering with pneumonia. The efficiency showed by all staff on our arrival was amazing. We then spent two nights on Hascombe [children's] ward and I can honestly say I was blown away by the level of not only medical expertise but also compassion and patience we received. I am truly grateful.” What we need Hospital can be a scary place for children and their parents or carers. At the moment, if a child or young person needs more intensive observation and nursing care than is possible on a general ward, but not to the point of intensive care, they have to be transferred to hospitals in London. This is because we do not currently have the available facilities to offer this level of care. What we're fundraising for We want to raise £50,000 to provide a state-of-the-art high dependency unit (HDU) so we can care for some of our most sick children at Royal Surrey County Hospital. How you can help With your support, we can keep children and young people close to their families and carers and help provide the care these children need. Please select a donation amount: * £10 could pay for toys and games to entertain children during their stay. £25 could pay for a child in hospital to enjoy a Christmas party. £50 could pay for a specialist play therapy session to help distract children while they're in hospital.
