The Teenage and Young Adult Cancer (TYAC) Service provides age appropriate cancer care for any young person age 16-30 diagnosed with any type of cancer. The Royal Surrey is the NHS England designated Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Service hospital for the St. Luke’s Cancer Alliance and specialises in providing local, holistic and expert treatment and care in a dedicated environment adapted to the unique needs of young people.

The 5 of us will be walking & wheeling (in fancy dress!) around the Royal Surrey County Hospital a kilometer for every active patient on the TYAC at the moment, thats 25 patients! 5k each! We would love it if you could support our challenge & help us raise some vital funds for our beloved service (date to be confirmed)

We all feel extremely lucky to have access to this incredible service, you could say having treatment on TYAC is like one big party, it's a very chilled, friendly & sometimes loud ward! Going through cancer treatment at any stage in life can be daunting, especially for patients who are younger, the impact on our lives is very different. The TYAC service isn't just about treatment or having your bloods done, it's a place to connect with others in a similar position, it's a support bubble via both patients & staff, it's our little haven.

The TYAC services are charity led, with everything they do for us we want to be able to give back to allow the service to help more young adults, we cannot stress this enough, this service has changed the way we all look at cancer treatment, it's no longer scary but dare we say it, FUN, so to everyone on our TYAC ward, we thank you x
